Terms and Conditions

Last updated: 01/11/2025

1. Introduction

These Terms and Conditions govern the relationship between 8count Dance Company (hereinafter referred to as "8count", "the organisation", or "we") and its members, guests, and students. By registering for a membership or attending any class, rehearsal, or event organised by 8count, you agree to be bound by these terms.

2. Membership and Tuition

Membership is subject to application and approval by the 8count management team. 8count reserves the right to refuse membership or service at its absolute discretion.

2.1 Fees and Payment

  • Membership Fee: The annual membership fee is currently OMR 10 per annum. Payment of this fee is required before membership becomes valid. From time to time, the management of 8count reserves the right to waive the annual membership fee.
  • Monthly Payments: Fees for group lessons must be paid monthly in advance. Payments are due on or before the first session of each month.
  • Private Lessons: Fees for private coaching sessions must be paid in full at the time of booking or as otherwise agreed with the 8count administration.
  • Currency: All fees are payable in Omani Rial (OMR) unless stated otherwise.
  • Non-Refundability: 8count operates a strict no-refund policy, except where explicitly stated in our Refund and Cancellation Policy.

3. Attendance and Punctuality

Members are expected to arrive on time for all scheduled sessions. Late arrivals can be disruptive and may result in the member being unable to participate in the warm-up, which increases the risk of injury. In such cases, the instructor reserves the right to refuse entry to that specific session.

If a member is unable to attend a lesson, they are encouraged to notify the 8count team as a courtesy. However, as per section 2.1, missed lessons cannot be refunded or credited towards future months.

4. Health, Safety, and Liability

Dancing is a physically demanding activity that carries inherent risks. While 8count takes all reasonable and appropriate steps to ensure the welfare and safety of its participants, members and parents/guardians recognise and accept these risks.

  • Assumption of Risk: Members participate in classes, workshops, and performances at their own risk.
  • Limitation of Liability: 8count explicitly declines to accept responsibility for any personal injury, loss, or damage to property that may occur on our premises or during events organised by us, unless caused by the proven negligence of the organisation.
  • Medical Fitness: It is the responsibility of the member (or their parent/guardian) to ensure they are medically fit to participate. Any existing medical conditions or injuries must be disclosed in writing during the registration process.

5. Code of Conduct

8count is committed to fostering a positive, respectful, and professional environment. Members are expected to:

  • Treat instructors, fellow dancers, and staff with courtesy and respect.
  • Adhere to the prescribed dress code for their respective styles.
  • Respect the studio space and equipment.
  • Refrain from any behaviour that may be deemed discriminatory, harassing, or harmful to the reputation of 8count.

Failure to adhere to the Code of Conduct may result in the suspension or termination of membership without refund.

6. Media Release and Intellectual Property

By joining 8count, members grant the organisation permission to use photographs and video recordings of their participation for promotional, marketing, and educational purposes. This includes, but is not limited to, social media, the 8count website, and printed materials.

Intellectual property, including choreography, specialised training methods, and branding materials, remains the sole property of 8count Dance Company and may not be reproduced or used for commercial purposes without prior written authorisation.

7. Changes and Cancellations

8count reserves the right to alter the timetable, change instructors, or cancel sessions due to unforeseen circumstances. In the rare event that a session is cancelled by 8count, we will make reasonable efforts to provide a make-up session or credit.

8. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Sultanate of Oman.

If you have any questions regarding these terms, please contact the 8count management team in writing.
